BGSU ARTSX 2025
Event Visual Identity System
Project Brief
Every year, Bowling Green State University hosts a winter arts festival called ARTSX, a one-day, campus-wide event featuring every art discipline offered at BGSU, along with performances, crafts, and shopping. Each year’s event includes a new theme and guest artist. This year’s theme, Process / Process, explored the dual definition of the word - both the act of creation and movement. The guest artist for the event was the Gabriel Brass Band. Two other designers and I were chosen to create a visual system around this theme for the event.

Gabriel Brass Band
Guest Artist: Gabriel Brass Band
Using CMYK process colors and drawing inspiration from the guest artist, the Gabriel Brass Band, we created a bright, energetic brand that reflected the band’s performance style, the diversity of art on campus, and the dual definitions of the word “process.”

Shape Design
The graphic shapes reference the different sides of one of the main art buildings, the Wolfe Center, while overlapping colors visually communicate the idea of process through layering and interaction.

Key Takeaways
One of the main takeaways from this project was learning how to efficiently build a cohesive visual system that could adapt across multiple platforms, from social media graphics to wayfinding. I learned how to develop a consistent look and feel for the event and successfully carried it through every application with my team. Additionally, I gained a deeper understanding of the importance of collaborating with stakeholders such as students, families, and staff who had previously attended the ARTSX event, to learn from their experiences and better understand how the event could be improved through design.
